My abundance vision board ritual started as a rebellion against the version I’d tried years earlier — one giant annual board, made every January, that I’d stare at with dwindling enthusiasm by March and mostly ignore by summer. It felt like clutter dressed up as inspiration, a wall of images that stopped meaning anything specific after the first few weeks.

So I scrapped the annual version and started making a small one each season instead — four times a year, a fresh cork board or a fresh section of one, built around whatever actually feels alive and relevant right now rather than whatever felt aspirational back in January. Each one gets maybe a dozen images and a handful of words, nothing elaborate, assembled in an afternoon.

Why Seasonal Beats Annual

The seasonal rhythm keeps the board honest in a way the annual one never was. A goal that mattered in January can feel completely irrelevant by April, but an annual board doesn’t know that — it just sits there, increasingly disconnected from what you actually want. Making a new one every few months means I’m never looking at aspirations that have quietly expired. Each board reflects where I actually am, not where I was months ago.

It also keeps the practice itself from becoming a chore. A small seasonal board takes an hour, not a whole weekend project loaded with pressure to get it “right” for the entire year. That lower stakes made it something I actually kept doing, rather than a January ritual I dreaded repeating.

What I Actually Put on It

I’ve learned to keep the images abstract rather than hyper-specific — a color, a texture, a feeling, rather than a literal photo of a specific house or exact dollar figure. Abundance, for me, has stopped meaning a fixed acquisition and started meaning a felt sense of enough, of noticing what’s already flowing rather than only chasing what isn’t here yet.
