A Cinnamon and Coin Ritual for Inviting Prosperity

A Black Salt Protection Ritual for Doorways and Thresholds
August 26, 2026My gratitude jar ritual started because every abundance practice I’d tried before was aimed entirely at acquiring more — more money, more opportunity, more of whatever felt scarce that particular month. None of it made room for noticing what was already going right, which started to feel like a real gap once I named it that way.
The ritual is small: each day, I write one good thing that happened, however minor, on a slip of paper and fold it into a glass jar on my kitchen counter. Not major milestones necessarily — sometimes it’s “the coffee was good” or “a stranger held the door.” The bar is deliberately low, because the practice is about the habit of noticing, not about curating only the impressive entries.
Abundance as Noticing, Not Just Acquiring
What shifted for me was reframing abundance entirely. I’d always treated it as something to chase — a future state where I’d finally have enough. This gratitude jar ritual quietly argued the opposite: that abundance is at least partly a matter of attention, of actually registering the good that’s already present instead of only scanning for what’s still missing.
Some days the slip of paper takes real effort. On genuinely hard days, finding one good thing worth writing down means searching harder than usual, and that search itself has value — it forces a kind of active looking that passive gratitude never quite achieves. Other days the jar fills with three or four slips because good things kept stacking up, and writing them down let me actually register that instead of letting the day blur past unnoticed.
What I Do With a Full Jar
I review the jar at the end of each month, and again at the end of the year, reading through however many slips have accumulated in one sitting. Reading a month’s worth of small good things back to back has a cumulative effect no single day’s entry could produce on its own — it becomes evidence, in my own handwriting, that good things happened far more often than memory alone would have told me.

This has become a natural companion to my prosperity bowl ritual for new opportunities, which is more forward-looking, while the gratitude jar looks backward at what’s already arrived. And it grew out of the same underlying philosophy I explored in how to manifest a life you love without forcing it — that genuine abundance has as much to do with noticing as it does with pursuing, and that the noticing, done consistently, changes how the pursuing feels too.
